We are excited to introduce the 1parkplace University webinar series. The University webinar series opens in January 2011, we will be offering up to 8 classes a month that will focus on different aspects of the 1parkplace solution. The classes will be conducted online so you can enjoy them from the comfort of your home and will feature an interactive session structure where you can view the class then participate in a Q&A session.

These classes are great for people just learning all the capabilities of the 1parkplace system and seasoned pros looking for a refresher.

We’ve heard a lot about the ‘perfect storm’ over the past year—depreciating home prices, plus loans gone bad, plus unemployment equals a devastating downturn for real estate.  But there’s another perfect storm you should know about: distressed properties, plus a growing pool of buyers, plus HUD’s FHA 203k program equals increased homeownership and brand-new business for Realtors.  To spread the word about 203k—an FHA loan that enables home buyers to purchase and renovate properties—industry veterans Dennis and Teresa Walsh have launched RE-buildUSA, a designation/membership program that turns agents into 203k Specialists.

Together with home improvement retailer Lowe’s, RE-buildUSA creates some much-needed hope and opportunity for Realtors and would-be home buyers alike. Here, Dennis Walsh explains why this is one storm that will lead to brighter days.

For obvious reasons, homeowners facing foreclosure often stop taking care of the house they’ll soon be leaving. Maintenance costs money, and people in this situation aren’t eager to invest in a property that’s being taken from them. As a result, a huge number of homes across the country are in bad shape right now.

Of the roughly 4 million unsold single-family properties in the national inventory, about 1.2 million are vacant. Roughly a quarter of those are new or partially completed homes no one has ever lived in. Most, though, are houses in which the owners have been forced out – and many of these have been vandalized, stripped of appliances and damaged in any number of ways. It’s not a pretty picture.

The FHA’s 203(k) loan program, which wraps repair and renovation costs into a primary mortgage, can help clean up the mess.
